24-Hour Crisis Line (208) 940-0600: Crisis line staffed by Mahoney House advocates who can help safety plan, connect with emergency services, provide referrals, provide information on the criminal and civil justice systems, and offer emotional support.
Personal Advocacy: Assists clients with navigating all sorts of situations and systems. From help filling out and filing civil protection orders, to help accessing public services, accompaniment to forensic interviews, assistance applying for victim’s compensation, etc.
Personal Advocates can help with:
Safety Planning: Safety planning services help victims think through and plan for dangerous situations — such as what to do when arguments escalate or the victim feels ready to leave the perpetrator.
Emergency Shelter: The Mahoney House provides off-site shelter to individuals fleeing domestic violence situations. If you or someone you know is in need of emergency shelter, please call The Mahoney House at (208) 756-3146, after hours please call the 24-hour crisis line (208) 940-0600.
Relocation services: Due to the limited services in Salmon, The Mahoney House can assist clients in relocation to more urban areas to seek services.
Resource Referrals: Advocates can help clients access appropriate services on a case by case basis. Click here for a pdf of our community's resources.
Short-term Individual Counseling: The Mahoney House provides short-term individual counseling with one of our in house counselors.
Support Groups: The Mahoney House hosts several support groups facilitated by advocates. Check the events page and events calendar for dates and times.
Supervised Visitation: Supervised visitation occurs when parents in high risk or high conflict relationships are allowed to see their children only under the supervision of an agreed-upon third party. Trained Mahoney House staff can offer this service if there is a court order from a judge. Supervised visitation is provided in partnership with Idaho's Seventh Judicial Court, Family Court Services.
3rd Party Child Exchange: The third-party child exchange service offers separated or divorced parents a safe and conflict-free space in which to exchange their child or children per court order or custody agreement. Mahoney House trained advocates facilitate exchanges.
Parenting Classes: Classes are provided three times a year, in six sessions each. Check the events page for descriptions and dates.
Legal Advocacy: Advocates can help prepare and accompany clients to court, to meetings with the prosecutor, and help them access legal services through Idaho Legal Aid www.idaholegalaid.org or Idaho Volunteer Lawyer Program www.isb.idaho.gov.

Advocates can provide support during exams related to domestic violence or sexual assault and can help victims to access necessary services. When an individual undergoes a sexual assault forensic exam at Steele Memorial Medical Center, advocates can be present to support the victim and family/friends through the process.

- Filling out and filing civil protection orders (CPO):
- Paperwork can be overwhelming. Advocates at The Mahoney House are trained and ready to assist individuals in filling out and filing CPO paperwork.
- Individuals may also choose to e-file their paperwork online. E-file CPO here.
- Accessing public services such as food, shelter, medical care
- Accompanying victims to forensic interviews
- Navigating the criminal/civil justice system
- Communication and follow through with law enforcement, court systems, victim’s compensation
