Community Outreach Advocate
Full-time, 40 Hours per week
$16-$18 an hour DOE, plus benefits
(health, vision and paid time off)
We are looking for an energetic, dynamic person to join our team who can assist in implementation of the programs and services offered at The Mahoney House, work as an advocate for survivors and help carry out the overall mission of the organization. The ideal candidate is extremely organized, has experience writing grants, and has superb computer skills. Although we are a small organization tasked with a big job, we work hard to create a supportive, positive, flexible working environment with an emphasis on self-care. This person needs to be able to maintain a good attitude and sense of humor while working collaboratively to tackle tough issues. A passion to created social change is a must!

Responsibilities:
- Works directly with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking. This includes attending meetings, medical appointments and court appearances with survivors, making referrals to appropriate resources, services and assisting survivors in emergency situations.
- Ensures that client records, essential paperwork and documentation are updated and accurate
- Helps manage the 24-hour crisis hotline and handles phone calls, walk-ins and other administrative duties at The Mahoney House
- Promotes The Mahoney House, its programs and services on the website and social media
- Participates in the education and training opportunities offered to law enforcement, legal systems, attorneys, medical personnel and community members and attends conferences and meetings as required
- Networks, as directed, with community, state and federal agencies in support of The Mahoney House mission and objectives
- Community outreach including: fundraisers, health fairs, community connections, providing awareness of services The Mahoney House provides to our community which includes Custer County
Requirements:
- Possessions excellent verbal and written communication skills including public speaking
- Completes tasks correctly and on time
- Is a positive team player and has incredible attention to detail
- Is proficient with Mircrosoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel); Google Drive experience is a plus
- Is comfortable using social media outlets (Facebook and Instagram)
- Has strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Is passionate about making a positive change in our community and working to end the cycle of violence
- Understand the complexities of and is able to work in a small, rural and geographically-isolated community
- Is sensitive to the needs of people, is tolerant of diverse lifestyles and values and communicates well across cultural and education barriers
- Understands and complies with strict rules of confidentiality
- Will travel for offsite meetings, trainings and seminars
- Must be able to work some nights and weekends
- Must pass a background check
- Has a valid driver license and current proof of insurance
